Milestone’s history

Milestone is a town in southeast Saskatchewan on Highway 39. It took its name in 1893 from C. W. Milestone, superintendent of the New Soo Line.

Today the town serves as a service centre for the surrounding countryside, and the area's economy is dominated by agriculture. Milestone has a public pool, a campground, an ice rink and various shops and services, along with two churches, Milestone Alliance Church and The Lighthouse Church. Young people attend Milestone Elementary School for Kindergarten to Grade 4 and Milestone High School up to Grade 12.

Former National Hockey League player Garth Boesch is among the town's notable people.
